The Jameson Cell The Jameson Cell is a high intensity flotation cell in which pulp and air are brought together in a co-current descending flow in a vertical tube called the downcomer. The pulp is introduced into the downcomer through a slurry lens orifice to produce a high velocity jet that generates violent mixing and fine bubble size.
Fig. 2 shows that as pH increased from 9.0 to 10.5 and then to 11.5, the pyrite recovery obtained from the flotation of the ore with 5 % pyrite decreased steadily from 94.5 to 40.6 % and then to 10.3 %. Hence, a direct link between the decreased pyrite recovery in Fig. 2 and the increased Cu grade in Fig. 1 when pH increased could be drawn. The …
The investigation results suggest that flotation is generally affected by the concentration of bacterial biomass used in the micro-flotation cell. Apatite recorded a high flotation efficiency of around 90%, while quartz achieved 14% flotation at pH 5 and a high concentration of bacterial biomass under identical experimental conditions.

Over the past few decades, the need to process more minerals while lowering capital costs has led to an increase in the size of flotation cells, e.g., 0.03 m3 to 1000 m3. However, this increase has created new challenges in the operation and design of industrial flotation cells, particularly in terms of froth removal, because the distance the …

Column Flotation Cells. Column flotation cells, like mechanical cells, are used to perform mineral separations. Column cells do not use mechanical agitation (impellers). Instead, mixing is achieved by the turbulence provided by the rising bubbles. Columns are mostly used to produce final grade concentrates because they are capable …
